Unless that 'nomodeset' directive could be causing an issue with the WiFi driver? I figured if I could get it online and download all the updates that might help things out.Īnyway, in reading some other similar issues, I think I have a handle on some of the information that might be helpful to the experts on these forums.

I'll need to resolve the video driver issue at some point, but for now I'm OK editing the startup command to get booted up. I also decided to leave Windows installed (for now) and leave the system able to dual-boot.

Since I remember having a similar issue with that before that resolved itself during the install process I decided to move forward anyway. I had to use the "Replace quiet splash with nomodeset and press F10 to boot" in order to get the screen to render properly. Rather than keep digging, I thought I'd see if someone might have some ideas for me, or point me to a solution already presented here, that I have missed. I've never had any major problems before, but in setting up this new HP laptop, I've run into a couple that have me stumped for the moment. I've used Linux Mint in a semi-casual manner over a handful of releases.
